Course programme

Former National Park Ranger John White will take you for a weekend of walking 'off the beaten track' in the valleys Martindale and Langdale. It's amazing how many people stick to the main, well trodden mountain footpaths, when there are huge area of land which can be explored away from the crowds. Though we'll sometimes use established paths on these walks, most of the time we'll be walking on old shepherd's tracks, animal tracks, or on open ground with
no path at all. The reward - walking away from the crowds with magnificent and unusual views, plus a fascinating insight into the area's wildlife, culture and history.

Langdale is especially well-known as one of thefinest mountain valleys in Britain, whilst lesser-known Martindale has the most varied wildlife and a fascinating history.

The exact walks will depend on the weather conditions on the day, but they will be of a moderate grade with some rough ground.
