Our course explores how philosophical anthropology, ethics, esthetics, phenomenology of religion, philosophy of science, metaphysics and language largely contribute to the development of a renewed and deeper understanding of what religion means. These disciplines are considered in terms of both current trends and the essential nature of their historical evolution since Antiquity.

This Master's Degree consists of a series of seminars that seek to show, through action, philosophical thinking and its extraordinary relevance to the critical problems of contemporary society, and serve as guidance to engage in research in a fully autonomous manner, in some of today's most interesting fields of philosophy.

About this course

The aim is to train students in the fundamental issues of philosophical reflection on the human condition, transcendence, and the search for meaning (for the sake of existence itself, society, nature and history) by critically analyzing the most significant concepts that revolve around these and which consist not only of philosophical literature itself, but also of that relating to religion and all forms of art. Thus, students should be trained to develop original thoughts and ideas that are then applied in an integrated and coherent manner to new and interdisciplinary contexts.

Candidates must have an interest in acquiring advanced knowledge about the process of research in philosophy, especially with regard to the issues related to the possibility of the human condition overlapping the realm of transcendence. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's or Licentiate Degree.

Regular students may study the Master's Degree either on a full-time or part-time basis. There is also a special student registration modality available.
The maximum time that a student may take to complete the Master's program is four consecutive years. Class attendance is compulsory for all students and is verified by the respective lecturer.

One of the strengths of this course regarding teaching and research in philosophy at Comillas Pontifical University is the special focus placed on the problems overlapping the realm of theology. These are addressed with the utmost scientific rigor and full freedom in the knowledge that this is precisely what is required by the thoroughly stringent approach employed in religion. Students enrolled in this Master's program analyze the human condition, by endeavoring to cover all the aspects that constitute such including all hypotheses in this respect, as well as examining the manners in which one can think of human nature overlapping with the divine.

Our University boasts the best scientific conditions for our students to take their first steps in philosophical research, not only because of our renowned faculty staff and our guest speakers, but also because of the large number of international students enrolled in it. We also have an excellent library, with its own philosophy research and documentation journal, as well as the possibility, especially through Fundación Loyola Centro, to provide scholarships for postgraduate studies.

Research; university faculty staff; cultural promotion work in publishing houses and newspapers; additional training for roles in education and teaching, and company leadership.
