Course programme

Located in the heart of Downpatrick, Down Arts Centre manages the Ultimate Guide and is the operational base for the arts in Down District. Staffed by Down District Council Arts Team, the venue produces a busy programme of events all year round, as well as producing and managing the annual Opera Fringe Festival on behalf of Fringe Performances Ltd, and the Newcastle Summer Season.

Oil / Acrylic Painting

This well established course tutored by Brian Trainor. Beginners will be introduced to their chosen medium and the sessions will cover essentials such as basic equipment and materials, getting started, choosing subject matter, composition, colour, value, perspective, still life,
landscape, seascape, buIldings etc. Experienced painters will be helped to develop their painting skills, analyse their work, widen their interests and explore alternative styles and approaches.
