Oklahoma may not meet your expectations of weekend trips as there are no such happening placea to visit, but if you are a lover of cultural diversity then you are good to go to experience a real cowboy culture.

What I would highlight:
Being from Europe and already done undergraduation, it becomes easy to study in US. Keep interacting with your professors and colleagues to have a smooth experience. I would go for graduate courses rather than undergraduate courses.

Renting apartment has its own advantages over dormitory rooms like you can cook your own meal, which proves out to be less expensive than cafeteria.

A semester advance budget planning will always help you. So if you want to travel you must include this advance budget planning in your habits.

Eskimo Joe's Mike's College bar are the best places to hangout with friends.

Do make a driving licence as soon as possible. It is acceptable everywhere as you Identity proof. Sometimes passport is not acceptable but these driving license are, and are easy to make, no hassle required.

Try to be cost effective wherever and whenever possible. You can go to walmart for daily picks at cheaper prices.
