The online portfolio preparation course we offer at OCAD is for those students who already possess an art design body of work, but for whatever reason have not yet made their University application, but now wish to do so. We support our students through every stage of the UCAS application process, from deciding on the best courses for each individual, to advice regarding the content and structure of their personal statement.

We offer support in producing a successful art design or architecture portfolio, not only of a physical nature, but also a digital portfolio which is a necessary requirement when applying through the UCAS system.

We give expert tuition in regards to the selection and presentation of art work for applications, and regard this activity as perhaps the most important stage of the application process. Students are expected to continue producing art work throughout this procedure as the colleges they apply to, will expect this. It may be that existing work will be further developed and improved, or completely new work will be made depending on each individual student and the specific University they wish to apply to. Therefore, students will upload their work for comment, and be given one-to-one skype tutorials at regular intervals.

Tutorial sessions will respond directly to each students prior experiences and the focus of their work, and be tailored to the individuals needs. Interview preparation will also be an important feature of the course. How to present themselves and supporting information at interview will provide the students with confidence in their ability to articulate intelligently and informatively.

Should students wish to make applications to colleges in Europe or further afield, then support and guidance will be available from our staff, experienced in the various procedures, which will ensure that all students achieve their goals

How It Works
Students receive access to their own online studio where they can work through their course and develop a digital portfolio - many universities require this. Units and assignments are listed along with supporting resources, video tutorials for skills development, step by step guides etc. Photographs of students' completed work are uploaded to their college e portfolio for assessment and constructive, friendly written feedback on how to progress. Additionally students are invited to discuss with an experienced and qualified personal tutor their progress and receive face-to-face verbal feedback, encouragement and support. Students may also benefit from relationships with their fellow online students as they can view profiles and comment on each others' art work if they wish.
Assessment
Formative as courses progress and summative at the end of units and the course.
