The course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding
and skills required to promote positive approaches and respond appropriately to
incidences of difficult behaviour in children and / or young adults.
Staff who support children or younger adults.
Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to• Understand how legislation, frameworks, codes of practice and policies
relate to positive behavioural support
• Understand the context and use of proactive and reactive strategies
• Understand the range of ODD –from 2years –young adult
• Identify if ODD is ordinary protest or real disease?
• Review biological, genetic and external factors leading to ODD
• Identify 12 symptoms of ODD
• Know how to promote positive behaviour to ODD SU’s within the multi
disciplinary team
• Define the term ‘conduct disorder’
• Know threw prevalence, gender and ethnic differences of CD
• Support individuals and others following an incident of challenging
behaviour
• Review and revise approaches to promoting positive behaviour.
