Who is this course for?
The Certificate in Oral Health Education is suitable for qualified and registered dental nurses who wish to further their knowledge and specialise in Oral Health Education, enabling them to take a more active role in oral health promotion. The course is designed to provide qualified dental nurses with the educational experience, including the knowledge, critical understanding, intellectual skills, practical skills and personal attitude to enable them to provide effective oral health education for patients.

How will I be assessed?
Learners will be assessed through a variety of methods including formal assessment, formal teaching, Record of Competence (RoC) and a Personal Development Portfolio
Written Examination
In addition to completing the RoC, candidates are required to undertake the written examination to assess underpinning knowledge and understanding. The 90 minute examination consists of 45 best single answer from 5 option multiple choice questions (MCQ) and 30 items within extended matching questions (EMQ).
Entry Requirements
Candidates will have current GDC Registration, two years experience in a dental setting and gained a level 3 qualification in Dental Nursing.
Career Opportunities
Employment as an Oral Health in Education in clinical practice or community. Further continuing professional development opportunities may include Dental Hygiene and therapy.
