Otolaryngology is the branch of medicine that deals with the health of the structures in the ear, nose and throat. The otolaryngologist is the doctor who specializes in otolaryngology. Its goal is to ensure the health of the ear, nose and throat by diagnosing, treating and monitoring the diseases and disorders that can affect them. Among the diseases most often treated by the urinolaryngologist are: diseases of the pharynx, such as tonsillitis, diseases of the larynx, diseases of the salivary glands, diseases of the ears and inflammatory diseases of the nose. The otolaryngologist first of all proceeds with the anamnesis, collecting information on the patient's medical and family history and lifestyle. He then proceeds to the physical examination through: inspection of the oral cavity and ear, palpation of the neck. The most commonly used procedures include: audiometric examination, impedance examination, vestibular examination, laryngoscopy, otoscopy and rhinoscopy.
