DIPLOMA IN TRANSLATION
Location Regent Street, Central London
Faculty Social Sciences and Humanities
Our three Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) preparation courses aim to support students in passing the Diploma in Translation exam.
The DipTrans is the oldest professional qualification of its kind, widely recognised by employers in the UK and around the world, and intended for working translators and for those who wish to embark on a career in professional translation. It is a postgraduate-level professional qualification offered by the IoL Educational Trust (IoLET).
Our courses
We offer the following three DipTrans courses:
Course 1 (11 weeks, January – April): General Translation Techniques
Course 2 (8 weeks, May – July): Specialised Translation Strategies
Course 3 (11 weeks, September – December): Exam Skills
The courses run consecutively but independently. While each course has a specific focus, all courses aim to give you training in the various skills needed by translators. They offer you a unique opportunity to enhance your career prospects as a professional translator.
You can also register for the DipTrans exam independently of taking any of the courses.
Before fully enrolling onto any of the three courses, all candidates are required to pass an admissions test. Please read our Diploma in Translation admissions test FAQ.
Course 1: General Translation Techniques
Course 2: Specialised Translation Strategies
Course 3: Exam Skills
Course 1 runs from January to April and focuses on general translation techniques. The contact time is once a week (2 hours) in the evening. In addition, you are expected to undertake independent study to fully benefit from the course. Classes falling on a bank holiday will be re-scheduled and will normally take place the following week.
