Suitable for: This course is aimed at delegates who have to operate an overhead travelling crane. It would be beneficial to those who have no previous experience or have experience but require refresher training.

This course is designed to impart the necessary knowledge to allow personnel to operate overhead travelling cranes safely, including the safe handling of loads.
CONTENT : Theory - Current Legislation and Regulations; General Industry Practice for Safe Crane and Lifting Operations; Pre-use Inspection on the Crane & Rigging; The Safe and Smooth Operation of Cranes; Initial Lifting and Final Landing of Loads; Controlling Swinging Loads; Basic Principles for Safe Slinging Operations; Protection of Load from Rigging and the Protection of Slings from the Load. Practical - Protection of Load from Rigging and the Protection of Slings from the Load;Lifting Loads with an Offset Centre of Gravity; Rotating Loads; Tandem Lifting (If Applicable); The use of Hand Signals when Directing a Lifting Operation.
The course is mixture of theory and practical. All delegates will be expected to complete both a written test paper and successfully demonstrate their level of basic operator skills under test conditions. On successful completion the delegate will be issued with an NSL certificate of training.
This course is currently delivered at one of NSL’s training centres, but can be delivered at the client’s premises.
PPE REQUIRED; Coveralls, hard hat and safety boots and gloves.
