To provide delegates with an understanding of how to handle pre-interview disclosure and how to conduct searches in accordance with PACE and search warrants. Also the course has a workshop relating to exhibit handling and continuity with references made to Section 78 PACE.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course delegates will be able to: -

  • Understand the law in relation to pre-interview disclosure
  • Understand the different approaches to pre-interview disclosure in relation to the interview plan
  • Be able to conduct ethical pre-interview disclosure that assists the interview process
  • Understand the process of applying for search warrants under Sec 32 PACE
  • Understand the other circumstances under which PACE searches of premises can be conducted
  • Be aware of Human Rights issues relating to work environment searches
  • Know how to manage and conduct a thorough, legal search
  • Know how to seize, store, and exhibit seized items
  • Know how to handle exhibits in relation to continuity
  • Be able to introduce exhibits in PACE interviews and personal witness statements
