Course programme
This course will define the expectations of a Paediatric First Aider and to supply the necessary information to respond appropriately in an emergency situation and understand the differences between an infant, child and adult first aid.
Unit 1 includes:- Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
- Be able to provide first aid in case of external bleeding
- Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock
- Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child with anaphylaxis.
Understand how to administer first aid to a child or infant with a chronic medical condition, with burns, minor injuries and emergencies.
