This higher degree is aimed at clinical professionals from all backgrounds involved in the delivery of acute, chronic, and integrated pain services in primary or secondary care. Combining cutting-edge research with an international reputation for clinical excellence, the UCL Pain Management MSc is ideal for anyone wanting to improve the lives of people living with pain while also accelerating their own career.
This programme is ideally suited to nurses and allied health professionals wishing to pursue senior (Band 7+) roles in the NHS and independent healthcare sector, as well as general practitioners involved in the delivery of pain services. It is also
applicable to junior doctors, osteopaths and chiropractors wishing to develop and demonstrate clinical interest in pain management and/or the pain component of training in anaethesia.
A minimum of a second-class UK Bachelor's degree or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicants should also be registered/licensed healthcare professionals with a demonstrable interest in pain management.
UCLH Pain Management Centre is at the heart of research in this field with doctoral and post-doctoral research ongoing in all of these areas as well as translational research exploring how
best to apply treatment principles to patient care.
The programme has been designed to blend online learning with as much easily accessible face-to-face contact as you feel you need. The online learning content presents the fundamental topics relevant to the subject and guides self-directed learning in the form of case studies, review and critical appraisal of research papers, and small management and clinical governance projects.
