Palliative Care
Aim:
The purpose of this distant learning course is to enable health and social care assistants to increase their knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of palliative care.

Length of Study:
9 Weeks

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements however it would be beneficial if the Candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

Contents:
Philosophy of Palliative Care, Importance of quality of life and promoting comfort, Teamwork and Communication, Symptoms Associated with Chronic Conditions, Awareness of End of Life Care, Grieving Process and Bereavement Care

Study Method:
Internet-based self-study. This is an online programme with assistance and support being provided through the College virtual learning environment.

Assessment:
Online assessment to be completed at home.
