Background

The EU Pensions Directive, currently under consideration by the European Parliament, is likely to be law within two years. Like UCITS it allows the establishment of a 'passport', but this time for Pension Funds, across the European Union. Given the current inadequate funding for pension funds by most people in Europe and the rapidly ageing population, as well as the increasing awareness of the situation, a Pan European Pensions Fund represents one of the most fruitful opportunities for any significant institution, whether mutual fund manager, life assurance company, private bank or fund administrator. Multinational companies and their Pension Funds too will find a Pan European Fund extremely useful. This course explains the EU policy, the technical changes about to come into force and the opportunities.
