Entry Are you about to become a young parent? Pregnancy is an anxious time for anyone, and the thought of becoming a parent for the first time can be a little scary. Then this could be the course for you! This course aims to help you overcome some of your anxieties by providing an opportunity to meet other young 'parents to be' who will be asking the same sorts of questions. You will have fantastic tutors who fully understand the responsibilities that parenting can bring. They will help you gain confidence and prepare you for your new parenting role. You will learn about child development, how to care for a baby, healthy lifestyles, how to keep children safe and much more! You will have fun, meet other young 'parents to be', learn many new skills and above all look forward to being a parent. You will also have opportunities to talk to professionals from other support agencies who will reassure you and direct you to information and support as and when required.

Course programme
This programme of study may be used to develop employability skills which can be enhanced in the workplace. You will be able to improve your maths and English.
You may wish to progress onto a level 2 programme in childcare. The College has a wonderful nursery so your study does not have to stop when baby arrives!
This is a short course which is usually delivered two days per week over ten weeks. You will receive a brightly coloured work book containing topics, assessments and information.
You will study some of the following subject areas:

- how to care for your baby
- how to care for your toddler
- creative skills
- practical skills
- safeguarding
- and much more!
