Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting a child's physical, emotional, social and intellectual development from infancy to adulthood. The concept of parenting refers to the complexity of the process of raising a child, and not exclusively to the biological relationship. The most common person involved in parenting is the child's biological parent, although others may be an older sibling, grandfather, legal guardian, uncle, other family member, or family friend. Governments and society can also play a role in raising children; in many cases, orphaned or abandoned children receive parental care from unrelated relatives. There are children, however, who can be adopted, raised in foster care or placed in an orphanage. Parenting, therefore, it is the long and continuous apprenticeship to learn the art of parenting. It is a dynamic process through which one learns to become parents capable of taking care and responding adequately to the needs of their children, needs that are extremely different depending on the evolutionary phase. The relationship of a woman with her son is unique, but it hides pitfalls because if badly managed it can become morbid with negative consequences for both the mother and the child.
