The parquettista is an expert craftsman in the supply and installation of parquet floors. Parquet is a flooring composed of wooden planks, suitable for both interiors (houses, offices, but also sports facilities) and outdoors (for example for the poolside). Other typical parquettist jobs are the repair and restoration of old parquet. The parquet can be in solid wood, pre-finished or laminated and comes in planks and slats of varying dimensions and thickness. The woods used for parquet are of many different types and traditionally are divided into dark, red, brown and light woods. Some of the most popular woods are oak, walnut, cherry, wenge, teak. First of all, the parquettist carries out an inspection and analyzes the surface to be covered with the parquet: he takes the measurements, evaluates the state of the existing floor and defines the details of the work to be carried out together with the customer. The parquet installer also provides the customer with advice on the type of parquet to use, on the color and on the best laying pattern to enhance the environment. After this preliminary analysis, the parquet installer calculates the quantity of planks, the material and the days of work necessary for the realization and makes an estimate of the costs. He then formulates a quote that he communicates to the client or to the company he works for. Once the estimate has been approved, the parquet installation worker defines a work plan, including laying and drying times, and then proceeds with the preparation of the surface for laying the parquet. At this point the parquet laying phase begins.
