Gearing up a Healthy Business and Driver
The Northern Logistics Academy is a logistics and transport training specialist, based in the Northwest of England, delivering sector specific training and qualifications. We are JAUPT approved for the delivery of Driver CPC periodic training courses.
If you drive a lorry, bus or coach as the main part of your job, it is a legal requirement that you must hold the full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
To gain this you must do either 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years or, 7 hours training per year in order to maintain your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.

Course programme

This course will guarantee that as an employee, you have a solid understanding of a healthy business.

The workshop will cover the following modules:

  • Healthy business - understanding the law and regulations: this module outlines the legal aspects of starting a business, including the different legal structures, information on tax, licences and other legal regulations.
  • Healthy business - the law and transport- familiarisation with Working Time Directive (WTD). You will be provided with the knowledge of the basic rules that apply and can schedule a driver dovetailing the WTD with the EU hours and recognise infringements, to help you understand Operator Licencing and its implications.
  • Healthy driver - the importance of healthy eating- providing an understanding of the importance of healthy eating principles.
  • Healthy driver - highlighting the impact of alcohol and drugs to a driver- Reviewing Government guidelines and with focus on the effects of alcohol and drugs, the symptoms of alcohol and drugs and how to manage consumption.
  • Healthy driver - driver fatigue - understanding the causes, symptoms, effects and consequences of driver fatigue.
