Course Description
Covers:

Advanced bookkeeping skills - such as depreciations, prepayments, and accruals

Analysing costs and revenues

Final accounts for sole traders and partnerships

Course Structure
The course can be studied either on day release (1 day per week) or evenings only (2 evenings per week) for 1 year

Assessment is by externally set examinations and skills tests:

EXAMS are set and marked by the AAT, and test the application of knowledge and understanding. Exam sittings take place in December and June

SKILLS TESTS evaluate the ability to perform practical activities - processing accounting data using a computer, for example. Skills tests take place throughout the year as part of the course.

Previous accountancy or finance experience or relevant qualifications (A-levels or AAT L2).

Course Progression
AAT Technician NVQ 4

This qualification is accepted by some universities as an entry on to an Accounting Degree programme.

Course Career Prospects
This qualification will be a progression towards becoming an accounting technician. After successfully completing the next level (AAT 4) technicians are eligible to progress to the qualifications of one of the sponsoring bodies such as ACCA and CIMA to become an accountant
