Course Structure
Students normally study up to six modules in each year. Almost two thirds of these modules will be compulsory, providing a solid core of business amd management subjects. The remaining modules are chosen from a range of options.
Bury St Edmunds Centre
First year modules include:
Personal Development, Economic Environment, Business Law, and Principles of Management.
Second year modules include:
Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Research Methods, and International Business.
Third year modules include:
a dissertation, Employment Law, Ethics, Strategic Management, and International Marketing.
Ipswich Campus
First year modules include:
Business in Context, Finance and Data Analysis, Management Skills Development, Business Law, and Entrepreneurship.
Second year modules include:
Business Environment, Research Methods, and Organisational Behaviour.
Options include:
Innovation and Creativity, Marketing Practice, Financial Accounting, Personal and Career Development, Managing Information and Activities, and a work-based project.
Third year modules include:
a dissertation, Strategic Management, and Managing Change.
Options include:
Employment Law, International Marketing, Managing Human Resources, Marketing Communications, Financial Strategy, and Management Accounting.
Assessment
Students are assessed through a mixture of written assignments, case study reports, presentations and examinations.
After the Course
Upon graduation students can progress to employment in a professional area. This degree also helps those individuals already working in the business sector to gain promotion and become more confident with the decisions they make in the work place. Many also enter programmes of further study for advanced professional qualifications or postgraduate courses such as the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at University Campus Suffolk.
