Is this course right for me?

This course is an introduction to a dynamic growth industry. Throughout this course you will be taught how to assist a range of technical treatments and services to enhance clients' appearance as well as improving their wellbeing.

What will I be learning?

Facials, eye treatments, manicures, pedicures and make-up. You will learn the basic rules of human anatomy and physiology supported by the theoretical components required to develop the range of skills studied.

How will I learn?

The course is a mix of practical and theory delivered by qualified and experienced beauty therapists. The emphasis is towards practical development and there are more practical salon sessions than theory. You will be continually assessed throughout the course by way of direct observation and oral questions. Written tests with multi choice or short answer questions are also a part of this qualification.

As a part of your course you will cover basic theory to underpin the practical treatments you will be trained to deliver.

What else might I want to know?

This course runs for one evening each week. Students are required to wear a salon tunic for practical aspects of this course, to purchase an equipment kit for personal use during sessions and a text book for home study and use in theory sessions. Students are required to register with VTCT and purchase an assessment logbook.

What can I do afterwards?

Students can progress to NVQ2 Beauty Therapy or Nail Technologies at South Devon College, these courses are offered as evening classes and as full time courses.
