Who is the programme for? This Foundation Degree is aimed at people who are employed in an area of Biology and are seeking to enhance their qualifications. The degree is also suitable for the employed who wish to enter one of the many fields of Biological Sciences such as medical, environmental or industrial biology.

Entry to the Programme?
How is it assessed? Assessments are continuous by a range of methods including assignments, portfolios, projects, case studies, poster presentations, laboratory work and examinations.
Future prospects? On successful completion of this Foundation Degree you will be equipped to work in a biology-related role in a wide variety of careers, including the food, pharmaceutical, environmental, water, cosmetic and agriculture industries. Alternatively, you may wish to continue your studies by taking advantage of a guaranteed progression to the third year of an Honours Degree in Applied Biosciences at the University of Salford.
When will the programme start? The programme will start in September 2010.
How long will it take? Attendance of one day per week is required for two academic years. Year 1 - Wednesday 10am - 8pm (30 weeks). Year 2 Thursday 10am - 8pm (30 weeks). Alternatively, and subject to demand, the programme could be studied over two evenings per week for four years (Wednesday and Thursday 6pm - 8pm for 30 weeks each year).
What about the Money? St Helens College is committed to providing value for money higher education programmes, therefore programme fees for Honours Degrees and Foundation Degrees for 2010/11 will be 2,100* per year for full time programmes.
