Course Content

This BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course and is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A*-C. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

You will take four core subjects:

• Applied science for technicians
• Mathematics for technicians
• Using engineering information
• Working practices.

You will also take four specialist units:

• Computer Aided Design
• Maintenance procedures & planning
• Programming CNC machines
• Using secondary machining techniques.

You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.
