A BTEC National Certificate is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start or progress a career. It is equivalent to two A levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into higher education first A BTEC National Certificate can be taken full time or part time and is equally suitable for school leavers and mature students. It is a recognized Technical Certificate for the Modern Apprenticeship Framework and is studied alongside a work based NVQ programme Course Outline The course is made up of 12 units - six core units, which everyone takes, and six specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth and there is opportunity to follow a clear career pathway in, Mechanical and Avionic Aerospace Engineering. These specialist pathways are recognized in the following endorsed qualification titles: BTEC National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (Mechanical) BTEC National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (Avionic)

What will I study?
All students take these 6 core units: Business Systems for Technicians *Communications for Technicians Science for Technicians Mathematics for Technicians *Project ? Aerospace Aircraft Workshop Principles & Practice *These units contribute towards the externally assessed Integrated Vocational Assignment The Mechanical Pathway will study: Gas Turbine Technology, Metallic Maths, Non Metallic Maths, Aircraft Propulsion Systems, Airframe Systems, Theory of Flight The Avionic Pathway will study: Theory of Flight, Metallic Maths, Gas Turbine Technology, Aircraft Electrical Systems, Aircraft Instruments, Cables and Connectors
