This course is for you if:
You have 1 or 2 years experience as a Supervisor or First Line Manager and you want to develop your management career by gaining knowledge and skills to bring to your role as a manager.
You can also join this course if you have successfully completed the CMI Team Leading Introductory Certificate or the CMI Management Introductory Certificate.

Public Sector Pathway:
You have 1 or 2 year experience as a Supervisor or First Line Manager within the Public Sector. During this course, which runs for one day a week over 30 weeks, you will study core aspects of management and learn to develop your own skills. You will learn about leading theories of management and will see how these apply in a public sector, relating them to your own management situation. The course content is specifically tailored to the changes and challenges in the Public/NFP sector.

Fee Information: The College charges a range of fees, primarily Home and Overseas. Under 19s assessed as Home, do not pay the course fees, we only charge a 20 enrolment fee which is refunded if you complete the course. Home students over 19 undertaking their First Full Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE A-C) or their First Full Level 3 (equivalent to BTEC National or 2 ALevels) will be charged 20 enrolment fee plus any examination fees. For Home students over 19 receiving certain state benefits, the 20 enrolment is charged and not refundable. In all other instances, you will be charged the Home-EU or Overseas Fee.

About the course:
As only 20% of the UKs managers have a formal qualification, achieving the Chartered Management Institute's Level 3 First Line Management standards puts you at an immediate advantage within your management career.
You can choose to study one unit to achieve an Award, three units for a Certificate or all seven units for the Diploma qualification. During this course you will study core aspects of management and learn to develop your own skills. You will learn about leading theories of management and will see how these apply in a practical environment, relating them to your own management situation. During the course you will cover a range of topics designed to improve your understanding of management, and build your own management skills in the context of your developing first line manager or supervisor career. These will include:
- Developing yourself in a management role
- Making effective use of resources
- Planning to meet customer needs
- Managing information and communication
- Developing people and planning work
Because the course is assessed by work-based assignments, you benefit from the practical application of what you learn in class and during self-study. Your tutors and fellow students are on hand to share their experience and knowledge with you - furthering your own understanding and helping you address workplace challenges.
