CITY AND GUILDS 2377 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION (PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING)

Who is this course for?

The Electricity at Work Regulations requires electrical systems to be maintained to prevent danger. The regulations include all electrical equipment which can be connected to a source of electrical energy and which may cause personal injury.

Such equipment can take the form of electrical/electronic appliances, tools, heating apparatus and test instruments, etc. The Health and Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. Therefore a legal responsibility in placed on employers to comply with and take reasonable care to ensure no danger results from the use of such equipment.

Course includes being able to understand the legal requirements, health and safety for maintenance of electrical equipment; be able, through inspection, to identify the different types, construction and classification of electrical equipment; be able to identify the suitability of electrical equipment for use etc.
