Course Description:

This is a part-time (at Lincoln) and full-time (at Newark) programme designed for the practising hairdresser/salon owner.

The programme comprises specialised hairdressing techniques including:

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Promote additional products or services to clients
• Provide hairdressing consultation services
• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
• Colour hair using a variety of techniques
• Provide colour correction service
• Creatively style and dress hair
• Creatively dress long hair
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
• Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills

You will be given the opportunity to attend trade shows and seminars as well as getting involved in competition work.

All students must comply with Lincoln College salon regulations regarding the wearing of appropriate dress in the Hair & Beauty salons. The dress code for hair students is black tunic and trousers.

Supplier details and order forms for the uniform will be sent to students as part of the enrolment process.

NVQ 2 or equivalent and relevant practical experience.

As a Level 3 student you will be required to use your new skills in your salon as part of your working day as a practising hairdresser, or as part of your work placement in a locally based salon. This will then prepare you for assessment within the college to enable you to achieve your qualification.

Level 4 Management skills.
This qualification also leads to employment on Health farms & Cruise Liners.
Teaching/Assessing

Lincoln: 1 day per week over 1 year, part time or 15 hours per week, full time

Newark: 15 hours per week, full-time.
