Course Content
Training will be given in the basic principles of "Lean Manufacturing". This can take up to four full days - depending upon the previous experience of candidates.
Lean taster days can be arranged in advance of the training commencing to familiarise a company with the progress.
After the training has been delivered each candidate is given at least three projects to complete. These projects will be decided in agreement with the company's management so that the maximum benefit can be obtained for the candidate and the business.
Projects will cover all the requirements of the NVQ standards. These will typically consist of 6 units as follows:
BIR 201 Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements: BIR 202 Contributing to effective team working: BIR 204 Applying workplace organisation techniques:BIR 205 Applying continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen): BIR 209 Creating visual management systems: BIR 213 Applying problem solving techniques.
Method of Assessment
Students are assessed by means of practical assignments. These are assessed by a BIT qualified assessor. Students also need to produce a portfolio of evidence.
Progression
On successful completion of this course students can progress onto Level 3 or 4 in Business Improvement Techniques (BIT).
