Course Overview This is a professional qualification for those in or wishing to work within mechanical engineering. BTEC Higher National Diplomas provide a nationally recognised qualification that offers career progression for those already in employment. The qualifications are undertaken by part-time learners studying over two years. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required by the sector with national recognition by employers.

Qualification gained: HND in Engineering

Course Content: This builds upon the HNC qualification and is equivalent to the first year of a degree programme.

Work Experience: Work experience in this area is desirable but not essential.

Course Assessment: Assessment is via written assignments of which there are four per module. Some assignments may be in the form of a test.

Progression: Further related study.

Homework: Approximately 6 hours a week additional study is required to complete assignments.
