Throughout the course students will undertake a range of coaching and leisure qualifications to maximise their chances of gaining employment in the sports industry in the future.
We encourage students who perform well on the Introductory Diploma in Sport and Leisure to apply for the First Diploma in Sport (Exercise Fitness) qualification at Nescot.

The course is made up of 8 units:
Three core units
- Working in Sport and Leisure
- The Healthy Body
- Starting Work in Sport and Leisure
Two personal skills units
- Social Responsibility
- Personal Effectiveness
Three specialist units
- Issues in sport and leisure
- Taking part in sport.
- Organising a sport or leisure event
Career Progression:
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress into a range of jobs in the sports industry. Students who achieve a merit or distinction in this course have the opportunity to progress to the First Diploma in Fitness and Exercise Studies.
Other Information:
The core and specialist units are graded P (pass), M (merit), or D (distinction).
Students may be eligible to play for the Men's Football Academy or the College Football Squad. Successful applicants will be invited to trials in July. The men's Basketball team plays in the British College Sports Participation League and the ladies football team plays in the British College Sports Performance League.
