Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C including Grade C or above in English. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty

Course Content
A well-established AS/A Level course which develops students? abilities to analyse the features of literary texts and to discuss them in a variety of ways.
Course Features
Wide reading of a range of texts from medieval to modern, across the key genres of Prose, Poetry and Drama.
The development of Key Skills Communication at level three. In particular, discussion, presentation and formal essay writing. The development of transferable skills.
External activities including theatre visits and seminars at Higher Education providers.
Career Prospects and Progression
A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. The course is a sound preparation for any proposed vocation involving the practical use of language and communication. It would be relevant to careers in Journalism, the Media, Social Work and Counselling, Secretarial and Office Work, Teaching, Librarianship, Performing Arts, Advertising and Marketing.
