Course Description
ESOL Skills for Life courses are designed for non-native speakers of English to improve their language skills in order to cope with everyday life in the UK. Level 2 courses are also designed to help students access other mainstream further or higher education studies.
Course Structure
Students may take:
- Speaking and Listening only (5hours per week)
- Reading and Writing only (5 hours per week)
- A full qualification - Speaking/Listening/Reading/Writing (10 hours per week)
Courses last one semester and assessment is by an oral examination (speaking/listening), written examination (writing) and the National Literacy test Level 2 (reading).
Course Entry Requirements
All learners will need to complete an application and interview prior to enrolling. For continuing students, re-enrolment arrangements will be made via your course tutor. Entry to the course is by successful completion of ESOL Skills for Life at Level 1 or by College assessment test.
Course Progression
For those with a full qualification at Level 2, there is a Key Skills Communication Level 3 course available. Students also use successful completion of the Level 2 course as a step towards enrolling to study mainstream subjects in College.
