This 1-year part-time course combines three stand alone qualifications giving you the opportunity to achieve the three qualifications in 1-year. You will have to successfully complete each course in turn to be able to progress onto the next, the courses are: First Steps in Information Technology (OCR), OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAiT) and European Computer Driving License (ECDL) - Essentials (Level 1). The European Computer Driving License (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification, which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer/IT skills. There are two parts to the ECDL qualification. This is the fastest growing IT user qualification. ECDL Essentials (Level 1) is designed to give an initial overview of computer use for the beginner or candidate.

Entry requirements
Prior to starting this course you would have had to successfully completed the First Steps in Information Technology (OCR) Qualification and the OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAiT).

What will I study?
You will study: ECDL Essentials (Level 1). Module 1 Use IT Systems: Module 2 Operate a Computer: Module 7 Internet, Intranets & E Mail.

How will I be assessed?
All units will be assessed through the on-line assessment via Learndirect.

Career Opportunities & Progression
On Successful completion of this course you could progress to the ECDL Extra (Level 2).
