Opportunities will also be arranged for students to obtain a variety of Sports Governing Body Awards and Industry Qualifications - i.e. Gym Instructors, Advanced Gym Instructors, Sports Massage and Exercise Referral. Students will follow a structured learning programme, which provides opportunities to attain and demonstrate required outcomes. The assessment involves collecting and evaluating evidence demonstrating the student's relevant achievements.

Knowledge and understanding is assessed by a combination of written examinations, coursework assignments, laboratory reports, portfolios, practicals and written and oral presentations. Coursework will be assessed on the achievement of tasks as specified against a set of criteria, class tests and formal examinations, which test the student's conceptual understanding.

Assessment will also be carried out in the work based learning modules by a portfolio and work based project.

Successful completion of 120 credits at Level 4 gains the award of Cert. HE. in Sport, Exercise and Fitness. Successful completion of 240 credits (120 at Level 5) gains the award of FdSc in Sport, Exercise & Fitness.

Students will then have the opportunity to progress to an Honours Degree at University of Ulster, Jordanstown providing preset standards have been reached and/or on successful completion of a bridging course. Suitable Honours Degree Programmes include: BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science and BSc (Hons) Sports Studies. The FdSc will provide students the opportunity of progression - within the Sport, Exercise and Fitness industry and/or to a relevant Honours Degree programmes in the UK or Ireland.
