Course programme
Part Time GCSE Maths
How & what will I learn?
How to use mathematics in an enjoyable, challenging and purposeful way whilst following the National Curriculum guidelines in the use of number and algebra, shape and space, statistics and probability.
Qualifications needed to start
You will need to be currently able to work at level 1 but do not worry if you are unsure of what level you are at as we will establish this during your interview and assessment. You will need a keen interest, regular attendance and dedication to complete work by key deadline dates as these are essential to your success. Level will be decided by your initial assessment.
Progression on completion & Career Opportunities
GCSE mathematics is a requirement for many careers including teaching and nursing. It can also help you to go on to higher level courses such as Access to Higher Education.
Will I have to take an exam?
You will be continually assessed through homework, so please ensure you have the time to fit in the home study necessary to complete the fast moving course. You will also be required to sit external examinations set by the AQA Examination Board at a time set by the awarding body and this may be at a different time to your usual lesson schedule.
How long does the course last?
The course is completed in one year, but if you require a slower pace the college also offers a Pre GCSE Maths course that runs for one year and leads on to the GCSE. Both options are available across our three centres and various times are available part-time, starting in September, during the day and evening.
