This is a course primarily for people who have an interest in Science or who may need Science to enhance their job prospects or gain entry to further training. The course is divided into three main teaching blocks of Biology, including Human Biology and Environmental Studies, Chemistry including Atomic Structure and Physics including Electricity and Energy.

What will you study
The course is divided into three main teaching blocks: Biology * Digestion * Circulation and transport * Communication and control * Inheritance and evolution * The environment Chemistry * Periodic Table and atomic structure * Rates of reaction * Oil Physics * Electrical Circuits * Energy transfer * Forces * Waves * Radioactivity * The Earth and the Universe * Electromagnetism There is also a coursework element which represents 25% of the total assessment. This will involve practical investigations undertaken during normal lesons.

How will you be assessed
The scheme of assessment consists of two tiers: Foundation Tier and Higher Tier. Foundation Tier: 3 written papers - each 45 minutes duration. Grades available G-C Higher Tier: 3 written papers - each 1 hour duration. Grades available D - A*. Both Tiers: Undertaken coursework.Grades available G - A*
