Health & Safety in Workplace L3 Award
This qualification, which examines health and safety from a supervisory perspective, provides a thorough understanding of health and safety and emphasises the importance of monitoring staff and controls. It also details the need for a structured management approach to health and safety and the key factors in implementing health and safety policy. It is relevant to all employment sectors - for example, manufacturing, retail, catering and hospitality, healthcare and local government. Candidates successfully completing this qualification will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the main concepts of health and safety
  • Show awareness of the benefits of health and safety culture
  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of individuals, supervisors and management in health and safety
  • Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety control and improvement strategies available to supervisors



Course Content:
The qualification covers the following topics:

  • Concept of health and safety
  • Accidents in the workplace
  • Ill health in the workplace
  • Legal provisions (UK only)
  • Health and safety organisation and management
  • Supervising health and safety

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
Entry Requirements:
Although there are no formal entry requirements for the course, applicants should possess a basic knowledge of health and safety issues. It is preferable for applicants to have previously completed the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or an equivalent qualification.

Entry Process:
There is no interview required.

Assessment:
Candidates will be assessed by an examination paper consisting of 60 multiple choice questions to be completed in two hours under examination conditions. Candidates who achieve 4050 correct answers will pass the examination and receive a pass certificate. Those who achieve more than 50 correct answers will receive a merit certificate. The results will take approximately two weeks to process.

Progression Routes:
Candidates successfully completing this qualification may progress to the CIEH Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, or alternatively the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health. Both of these qualifications are offered by the College.
