About this course

Learners should be at least 18 years of age and normally possess one of the following:
1 A level and 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above
A BTEC National Certificate/
Diploma/Advanced GNVQ/AVCE in Building Studies (or similar)
Mature learners without the necessary academic qualifications but with relevant experience in the construction industry may be considered, subject to interview.

Course Description
This programme of study has been developed in conjunction with the University of Glamorgan. It enables learners who do not have the opportunity to study via traditional day-release programmes to further their qualifications by studying for a HNC in Construction Technology and Management/FD in Construction Science either on an evening only attendance basis or part-time day and evening mode (subject to demand). The courses offer a range of modules designed to equip industrial practitioners with both the academic knowledge and the practical skills required by professionals and technicians in the construction industry.

Career Prospects
This programme of study has been developed for individuals wishing to enhance their career prospects in the construction industry, either by direct employment at higher technician level or via Foundation Degree and Degree Studies (Honours) in Construction Management. Pathways exist in both design and production. The goal is for the candidates to progress (with further study) to an Honours Degree at the University of Glamorgan and subsequently become Corporate Members of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB); Association of Building Engineers; Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists; IMBM; ABE; etc. dependent upon industrial experience and vocational bias.
