Course Features
Local access to a University Degree in Sport
The course was written in conjunction with local employers and the University of Glamorgan. It is current, academically rigorous and meets the needs of the local job market
The course focus is on coaching and it's associated disciplines, fitness testing and programme design, psychology, anatomy and physiology. Along side this students are prepared for work in the industry with sports development modules and industrial experience. A study skills module is also offered to support students and aid integration into higher level study.
Assessment is contributed via a combination of assignment, case study, log book and practical skill assessment. More theoretical modules will be assessed through a combination of formal examination, assignment, case study and project work
The course utilises the department's strong community links to place students in local schools and with local development officers to gains practical experience
A Foundation Degree consists of 12 x 20 credit modules. This would take two years to complete full time. The course can be accessed either full or part time. Completion of 7 modules results in an HNC (Higher National Certificate).
The full BSc (Hons) Degree consists of 18 x 20 credit modules and students are required to complete a bridging module at the end of their second year to progress to year three.

Careers directly related to Sport and Physical Education including Fitness Centre Manager, Leisure Services Manager, Outdoor Pursuits/Adventure Instructor, Sports Administrator, Sports Coach/Instructor, Sports Development Officer and PE Teacher or Lecturer. Other careers where the study of sport would be useful could include the Emergency Services and Armed Services, Sports Journalism, Marketing and Sales and Youth work.

Modules will be assessed through assignment, case study, log books, practical skill observation, formal examination, case study and project work
