On this course you will study:
Syllabus A:
- Amenity and decorative horticulture
- Propagating and rearing plants
- Turf establishment and maintenance
Syllabus B:
- The Horticulture industry and organisations
- Work experience in horticulture
- Practical land based skills
Tutors:
The Horticulture department is staffed with tutors who have lots of teaching and horticulture experience.
Assessment: Assignments, written assessments, and practical assessments.
Awarding Body: BTEC
Entry Requirements:
There is no formal Horticulture experience needed, but you must have any Level 1 (or above) qualification or you must achieve a Level 1 in Literacy in an assessment at interview.

After successfully completing this course you can move onto the National Diploma or other level 3 or 4 qualifications.
Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment in the Horticulture industry.
Horticulture is one of the largest areas of employment in the UK and covers gardens, landscaping, commercial crop production, garden centres and nurseries.
Work experience opportunities:
You are expected to undertake some horticulture work experience in industry or in the College.
Qualification in Context and Future Opportunities: National Diploma or other level 3 or 4 qualifications.

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you do not have to pay Tuition Fees, the College Registration, Awarding Body Registration or Exam/Assessment Fees. However, you will have to pay any Resource Fees. Under 19s entering Higher Education will have to pay full costs.
