This is a part time professional vocational course for people who wish to learn the skills of Indian head massage. Course Content:
Kit/Uniform:
A uniform is compulsory for this course in accordance with Industry Codes of Practice. The College dress code for this course is a white tunic, navy trousers and flat enclosed black or white shoes. Other kit details will be discussed at the first class. Information on suppliers will be sent out with joining instructions. Please note there is a 34.00 registration fee for this course. If you have completed a course with VTCT in the past you will need to produce your candidate registration number at the first class meeting.
Entry Requirements:
- Previous experience of a beauty or holistic therapy would be an advantage
- Applicants for the intensive version of this course should hold a recognised qualification in massage .
Entry Process:
Acceptance on the course will be determined by telephone interview.
Assessment:
Learners will undertake a formative practical assessment, a final summative exam and a written paper during the final two sessions of the course. Home study will be required for some case studies and the tutor will set assignments. Learners must cover ranges during home and college case studies. It will be the responsibility of the learner to provide clients for both case studies and assessments. A final portfolio of work will need to be submitted for proof of competence.
Progression Routes:
Students may also progress to other Level 3 qualifications in complementary therapies, such as in reflexology or body massage, or to the part-time Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapies offered by the College.
Career Options:
Successful students will be qualified to work in a range of businesses within the beauty/complementary health industry, for example in care services, clinics, cruise liners, health farms, hospices, leisure centres, salons, and in self-employment.
