Entry requirements
A minimum of four GCSE passes at grade C or above, including English. Mature students with or without the minimum entry requirements are also welcome.

What will I study?
Unit 1: Poetry pre?1900: 1 question (in two parts) based on an anthology printed by the WJEC (open text). Unit 2: Either Writing Task: 1 question (in three parts) based on stimulus given or Internal Assessment: 2 pieces of original writing plus evaluation and comment. Unit 3: Prose: Analysis of literary and non-literary texts (closed text).

How will I be assessed?
You will take three examinations (or two examinations and coursework) based on two texts. Note that texts will vary on different sites.

Career Opportunities & Progression
The AS is the first half of the Advanced course. It will contribute 50% of the total Advanced marks but can also stand alone as a discrete qualification. This course provides a suitable foundation for the study of English Language & Literature or a related subject.
