About this course

In addition to the general College entry requirements, you will need to have at least a grade C in GCSE English language, Media Studies and a grade D in GCSE Maths. You should have a realistic enthusiasm for video production, and a willingness to work as part of a team and independently.

What will I study?
This course is centred on students developing production skills across a range of media. These include, short film making, music video production, stop motion and digital animation, advertising and documentary making. Students will gain hands on experience in pre-production planning, setting up and operating production equipment and in post production editing.

Duration:
Two years, five hours a week, part time.

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
Along side the practical elements of this course there is also a large amount of written work to complete. Applicants should expect to research and write at least one 1500 word essay for each project along side formulating an extensive evaluation for each completed assignment.

How will I be assessed?
Six units assessed by portfolio work. This will be made up of practical and research assignments.

What can I do afterwards?
The course will prepare you for a variety of media and digital production related courses at degree level, like the Foundation Degree in Multimedia delivered at Lewes Campus or lead to entry level and trainee jobs in the media industry.

Are there any additional costs involved?
You will be expected to purchase a 4GB memory stick and a supply of Digital Video tapes. Total cost no more than £30
