NQ Horticulture: Principle and Practices

Course Summary:
This course is an ideal mix of theory and practical activities for anyone who wants to learn the how and why of horticulture. It is also an access course to both HNC Horticulture and HNC Garden Design and students who successfully complete this NQ will be guaranteed an interview for either higher level course.

Course Content:
An Introduction to Design and Drawing
Soft Landscaping - Plant Selection and Use
Plant Identification
Lawn Care
Hard Landscaping; Surveying and an Introduction to CAD
Growing Plants - Indoors and Outdoors
Soils and Horticultural Machinery

Assessment:
Continuous, with a mix of practical and theoretical assessments

Duration:
1 year (August - June)
