About this course

You will be a full or part-time teacher in an organisation providing post-compulsory education with a teaching commitment of at least 20 hours over the duration of the course. You should be adequately qualified and experienced in the subject you wish to teach, to at least Level 3 or equivalent. You should have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent or be willing to work towards these during the course. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE COURSE?
You will be a full or part-time teacher in an organisation providing post-compulsory education with a teaching commitment of at least 20 hours over the duration of the course. You should be adequately qualified and experienced in the subject you wish to teach, to at least Level 3 or equivalent. You should have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent or be willing to work towards these during the course. These are an essential requirement for the achievement of the final award of the PCET.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
The programme is designed to provide an introduction to the first principles in planning and managing teaching, learning and assessment.
The practical teaching requirements will enable you to apply these concepts skills in the classroom.
It is also possible to undertake PTLLS as a stand-alone aid for this component of the course - no teaching practice is required.

ASSESSMENT
A wide variety of assessment methods is used in each module including observation of your teaching practices.

WHERE COULD THE COURSE LEAD?
Successful students are eligible to progress to Stage 2 Intermediate Professional Certificate in Post-compulsory Education and Training (CTLLS).

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Course Costs - POA (price includes all tuition, registration and certification fees).
Funding is available from your Local Education Authority. Application form PN1 must be completed to secure this funding. Application packs are available from Client Services and the Student Support Centre.
