Refresher In Ladies Hairdressing Certificate
For this course candidates are required to, already hold a level 2 qualification in ladies hairdressing or have had at least 3 years in industry experience completing all aspects of ladies hairdressing. The purpose of the course is to give candidates opportunity to build on existing skills and knowledge, and up date their techniques in line with current fashion trends. The course will cover up to date techniques and knowledge for, colouring, cutting, perming and long hair.

Course Content:
The course will be predominantly practical activity, however there will be theoretical aspects completed also. Candidates will be expected to provide some models for the practical aspects of the course. Charges will be made to models to cover the cost of materials used. The course will mainly focus on cutting for fashion looks, colouring using up to date foiling techniques, fashion techniques for long hair and current perm styling.

Vocational Relevance:
The course will help those that have been out of the industry and are thinking of returning update their skills and build their confidence ready for a return to industry.

West Kent College, College Certificate

Work Experience / Practical Experience:
Students should be working in the industry or about to return.

Entry Requirements:
Students must hold a formally certificated level 2 ladies hairdressing qualification or at least three years industry experience working as a stylist.

Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Assessment:
On-site class delivery, observation and questioning.

Progression Routes:
City and guilds hairdressing diploma level 3, Barbering NVQ level 2 subject to previous experience and qualifications gained.

Career Options:
Salon based stylist.
