About this course
Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C including a minimum of C grade in Welsh Second Language. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty.

Course Content
The course will develop Welsh oral, listening, reading and writing skills. Students will establish solid foundations for further study whilst at the same time developing skills suitable for the workplace.
Course Features
There is a great emphasis on oral work, with students regularly working in groups and pairs to discuss contemporary issues.
Use of language and grammar are key aspects of the course, helping students develop their fluency and accuracy in the Welsh language.
Various forms of literature are studied poetry, short stories and a play and they form a basis for both oral discussion and written assignments.
Career Prospects and Progression
A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. Welsh speakers are increasingly needed in the retail sector, tourism, transport, public relations, banking and accountancy, administration, translation, secretarial work, marketing and sales, the law and teaching. Being bilingual gives a person an additional valuable skill when job seeking.
