Aim:
This course will provide clients with the basic tools and technique to perform routine PC maintenance, faultfinding and upgrades of both hardware and software.
Length of Study:
Approximately 27 weeks

There is no specific formal requirements, however, it would be beneficial if students have basic knowledge of computer systems and knowledge of operating systems and computer hardware before starting this course by Distance Learning.
Content:
PC fault finding techniques, Hardware installation and maintenance, software installation and maintenance, backing up and restoring data, installing and upgrading Windows, hardware upgrades (including sound, video and memory upgrades), installing printers, modems and other peripherals, computer viruses, basic networking skills
Study Method:
Home or work-based self-study with additional support and advice from a personal tutor.
Assessment:
There is no formal assessment, but after completing the course students can, if they wish, obtain a College Certificate by taking a final practical assessment.

Blended delivery comprising - hands on workshops, face-to-face tutorials and on-line materials and support (using Reid Kerr College Virtual Learning Environment).
