This is a part-day course of 4 hours duration
In the 5 year period to 1998/9 726 staff were off work for over 3-days from an accident which involved moving or lifting a resident/client in a care home.(Source Health & Safety Executive)
The course will show how this can be done safely and with care and dignity to the resident/client and the staff involved. There are practical sessions showing how equipment should be used and showing safe techniques.

- Unsafe lifting practices and abuse
- Handling aids and equipment
- Practical sessions*
*The practical sessions will be flexible to suit your own requirements and may include the following. Assisting a client to stand, seated transfers, moving and turning on the bed, use of hoists and slings and the fallen client.
